CarMax Community Driven: Prepare

We partner with the American Red Cross and Good360 to prepare ahead of disasters to build resilient communities. Our associates will support more than 100 disaster events this year, including blood drives, smoke alarm installation events in at-risk communities, disaster kit builds, and more. Through our partnerships, we also support communities’ immediate needs in the wake of a disaster as well as long-term recovery efforts.

When our associates are hit by tragedy, we want them to receive help as quickly and easily as possible. That’s why we joined forces with the Emergency Assistance Foundation to provide grant support for those experiencing unforeseen hardships.

When an associate donates to the American Red Cross, Good360 or the CarMax Associate Disaster Fund, The CarMax Foundation matches that donation 2:1 through our Matching Gifts Program.

Supporting the American Red Cross

For more than a decade, CarMax has been a supporter of American Red Cross disaster relief efforts. In 2016, we increased our commitment by becoming a National Disaster Responder Partner of the American Red Cross. Disaster Responder Program member donations help the Red Cross ensure an immediate response to meet the needs of those affected by disasters of all sizes, at no cost and regardless of income.

In addition to providing financial support, CarMax assists Red Cross chapters across the country through blood drives and volunteer team builders. In fiscal year 2018, Associates led 80 blood drives and volunteer events with their local Red Cross chapters.
